Seasonal high tide will peak on Miami Beach around 9am; worst flooding yet to come

That’s because in the early morning hours, the tides will reach their highest point in the fall, just as the moon gets to its perigee, which is when it’s closest to the earth and has the strongest gravitational pull and becomes a new moon.
